Frequently Asked Questions
Superior Suite, 1 Bedroom, Balcony FAQs
What does the Superior Balcony One-Bedroom Suite at El Mangroove Papagayo look out on?
The suite has a private balcony with a garden view. It is a calm, leafy outlook rather than a direct ocean frontage, and the balcony lets the 732 sq. ft. suite feel connected to the resort's forest, mangrove and beach setting.
How are the beds arranged and how many guests does the suite sleep?
The suite has one bedroom with 1 king bed and a king-size double sofa bed, and it sleeps up to 3 guests. Premium bedding and a pillow menu are provided. A free crib is available on request, and a rollaway/extra bed can be added for a surcharge (USD 30 per night is the rate reported).
Is the bathroom suitable for guests who need accessible features?
Yes. The private bathroom has a roll-in/transfer shower with a height-adjustable showerhead, plus a grab bar by the toilet, low-height electrical outlets, lever door handles and smooth flooring. It also has a rainfall showerhead, bathrobes, free toiletries, a hair dryer and towels.
What is included with this suite, and what costs extra?
Free in-room Wi-Fi and free self-parking are included. Complimentary kayaks and snorkeling gear are also reported. On all-inclusive rates, on-site food and beverages are part of the room rate (some restrictions may apply). Buffet breakfast carries a surcharge on room-only rates, and airport transfers, babysitting and private pool cabanas are extra.
Is this suite a good choice for families, couples or a longer stay?
With a king bed, a king-size sofa bed and 732 sq. ft. of space, it suits a couple wanting room to spread out, or a small family of up to three. The resort is family-friendly, with a kids' zone for under-12s and family pools in the Activity Zone. The separate Relax Zone with its pool is adults-only. Balconies may not suit very young children, so keep that in mind for toddlers.
How far is the suite from the beach, pools and restaurants?
Playa Panamá is a 5–6 minute walk from the hotel. The bay is calm and flat with black sand, and one recent guest found the beach area limited. On site there are three restaurants: Makoko, which sits closest to the suites beside the main bar; Matiss, the open-air beach and poolside spot; and Malú, serving Mediterranean-inspired dinners. El Shack is a beach bar near the pools.
What is dining like for guests staying in this suite?
Makoko serves contemporary Costa Rican-inspired cuisine for breakfast and dinner and overlooks the Gulf of Papagayo. Matiss serves poke bowls, sandwiches, pizza, steak and Guanacaste specialties for lunch and dinner, with poolside service and an extensive room service menu. Malú offers Mediterranean-inspired dinners. Reservations can be made via OpenTable or by phone.
How far is El Mangroove Papagayo from the airport, and what are check-in and check-out times?
The hotel is about 12 miles from Liberia International Airport (LIR), roughly a 20–25 minute drive. Check-in begins at 3:00 PM and standard check-out is noon. Airport transfers can be arranged through the property, and surcharges may apply.
What else should I know before booking this suite?
El Mangroove Papagayo is a smoke-free property, and pets are not permitted (only service animals). The Bearth Spa offers treatments among the mangroves, and the Wyl Gym is open 24 hours. The dry season from December to April is the sunniest time to visit Guanacaste.
